Homemade Mustard Recipe

Mustard sauce is perfect for meat sandwiches and goes well with both ketchup and mayonnaise. It's commonly used either as a dipping sauce or in stir-frying and goes well with bread dishes and fried foods, hamburgers, tacos, rice, barbecue, etc. The sauce can also be used as a topping for steamed or roasted veggies such as grilled or roasted sweet potatoes, steamed broccoli, and grilled zucchini.

Ingredients for Homemade Mustard:
Mustard seeds - 1/3 cup
White wine vinegar - 1/3 cup
Maple syrup - 1 tbsp
Turmeric - 1 tsp
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Water - 2-4 tbs (warm – as needed)
Horseradish - 1-3 tsp (optional)
Method of preparing the Homemade Mustard:
  1. Mix all the ingredients, except for the horseradish, in a bowl. Let the mixture sit and rest for three days.
  2. Blend the mixture until it reaches a smooth consistency. If the mustard is too thick, add water.
  3. Add the horseradish to the spread. The mustard will stay fresh for 6 months, but it's best to use it in the first month.
