Abandoned spaces have long been a subject of fascination to photographers, and that is definitely true for Roman Robroek. Robroek merges his love of photography, travel, architecture, cultural heritage, and adventure by seeking out abandoned buildings. One of his most haunting set of images shows a large number of churches across Europe in different states of decay. Whether these houses of prayer have been abandoned due to a natural disaster, or they are simply located in uninhabited villages, each space has its own unique story to tell.
