9 Airplane Freebies That Make Traveling Easier

Air travel can be tedious thanks to long queues, hidden fees, and delays, however, it does have some redeeming qualities that can soften the blow of having to deal with such things. Regardless of whether you’re in first or cattle class, you can benefit from the following perks:

1. Drinks

When you’re served a drink of any kind on board an aircraft, you usually get whatever you ordered poured out into a little plastic cup. Don’t hesitate to ask (politely) for the whole can! As long as there aren’t restrictions, you should be able to claim the entire thing. Some airlines will even offer free alcohol during the flight, so try your luck!

2. Medical Supplies

If you’re on an airplane and find yourself in need of medical assistance, all you need to do is ask a flight attendant for a bandage, ice pack or pain reliever. Planes are stocked with basic first aid supplies, so it won’t be a problem if you experience a minor injury of some kind.

3. Hot Cocoa

Some airlines, such as Southwest, will give you a chocolatey cup of decadence if you just ask for it.
4. Antibacterial Wipes
Germs are present in very high frequencies on airplanes, and this is because there are people constantly moving in and out of them. If you’re concerned about catching something (which you have every right to be), ask your flight attendant for some antibacterial wipes to wipe down where you’re sitting.
5. Babysitter

Although it isn’t possible to employ a babysitter mid-flight, a flight attendant will always be happy to help should you need to get up from your seat and take a bathroom break. Etihad, the United Arab Emirates carrier, is an exception because it does offer an in-flight nanny service.
6. Snacks
If you’ve eaten an in-flight snack but it just isn’t enough to satisfy your rumbling belly, you can always try asking for an extra snack after everyone on the plane has been served. The likelihood is that they won’t mind doing so.

7. Amenities

Amenities kits on airplanes include things like sleeping masks, earplugs, toothbrushes, or toothpaste. Some even include games and activities for kids, while others contain shaving cream, lotion and, combs. Japan Airlines will even give passengers a pair of slippers in an assortment of colors!
8. Entertainment
Certain carriers have expanded their entertainment to include satellite TV and radio on their aircraft. The likes of Delta and American Airlines all over a ton of different media options and certain planes even allow passengers to stream content on their personal devices thanks to onboard WiFi.
9. Cockpit Tour

It’s always fun when kids are allowed up front to meet the pilots of the aircraft that they’re on. Although increased security measures in the aviation industry have limited cockpit access considerably, you’ll still be able to let the kids to have a look round – just remember to ask after you’ve landed as opposed to mid-flight.
