Argentinian Carne Asada Steak Rub

The word Asado means roasted. Argentinian meat roasting techniques call for a long, slow cooking, which results in tender, moist meat. This recipe will teach you how to make the aromatic marinade for the Asado. This mix will work perfectly for marbled beef slabs (think Ribeye, Strip and Sirloin).

Ingredients for steak rub:
Salt - 1 tsp.
Cumin - 2 tsp.
Chili powder - 2 tbsp.
Poblano chili pepper - 1 tbsp. (powdered)
Oregano - 2 tsp.
Garlic - 2 cloves
Lime juice - from 1 lime
Cilantro - 1/4 cup
Dark beer - 4 tbsp. (optional)
Method of preparing the steak rub:
  1. Mix all the ingredients together until you have an even color. Rub the steaks (if they're frozen, let them thaw completely) and let them sit in the fridge for a maximum of 2 hours.
  2. Cook on a cast-iron skillet to the desired doneness and enjoy!
Chef's Tip:
For the juiciest steak, try adding the salt only after you cook. The quantities in the recipe will be enough for a jar that will last you well over a month, so keep it in the fridge.
