We can find numerous jaw-dropping landscapes online in minutes. Many of these photos are too good to be true. Yet, we rarely stop and think if they are indeed real or heavily edited. This new landscape photography contest goes against the mainstream and only allows “natural” photographs in their lineup: no photo editing, compositing, distorting, or combining permitted!
As the Natural Landscape Photography Awards write on their website, they have created the contest for artists who “value realism and authenticity in their work.” And we must say, this approach makes perfect sense and is quite refreshing!
More than 13,000 photographs participated in this year’s competition, and the judges have nominated two overall winners - Eric Bennett and Steve Altermann. Utah-based photographer Eric Bennett became the winner for the selection of images he submitted to the competition, whereas Steve Alterman got the title ‘Photograph of the Year’ for his unconventional image of an iceberg on the black sand beach in Iceland.
