Welcome to the magnificent multiethnic land of Mauritius. The Republic of Mauritius is a lush tropical island located in the African Region of the Indian Ocean. Not only is it one of the most highly ranked competitive economies in the world, it is also a land of immeasurable beauty and unique nature. After facing the rule of the Dutch, the French, and finally, the British, Mauritius fought for and earned it’s independence in 1968 and was declared a republic in 1992.
It continues to thrive economically through its tourist industry and numerous multicultural events, among other major industries. It is also a hot spot for stunning hiking locations, beautiful white sand beaches and a plethora of incredible flora and fauna, including numerous endangered and preserved species. Many now-extinct species, too, such as the Dodo bird, for example, also used to live here. These 30 photographs show all the loveliness and nature that Mauritius has to offer.
