Asen Kurbanov is a Russian painter who strives to combine the techniques of the old painting masters with a modern, personal style of imagery. His works contain many biblical and historical references, often introucing an atmosphere of mystery. He especially loves portraits, and they always seem to hint that there is an interesting story behind the person in the painting. Here are some of my favorite paintings by this talented artist.
