Homemade Hot Salsa

You might not be familiar with Zchug, but if you’re looking to add a kick to your meal, this is just the condiment for you. Yemenite Jews eat this hot salsa with almost everything. It has a highly spicy kick to it and is a perfect accompaniment for falafel or sabich sandwiches. It also goes well with various grilled vegetables, fish, meat, and eggs.

Homemade Hot Salsa
Ingredients for Yemenite Hot Salsa:
Cilantro - 1 cup (chopped)
Cumin - 1/2 tsp.
Salt - 1/2 tsp.
Water - 1 tsp.
Oil - 2 tbsp.
Garlic - 2-4 cloves
Green chili - 5 (Diced. You can add one red pepper if you’d like)
Method of preparing the Yemenite Hot Salsa:
  1. Blend the peppers and cilantro leaves in a food processor. Add the oil and spices and blend until you reach a smooth consistency.
  2. This condiment will stay fresh for 1 month.
