“There's no such thing as good weather, or bad weather. There's just weather and your attitude towards it” -Louise Hay. This quote perfectly describes the spirit of the Weather Photographer of the Year photo competition, the mission of which is to showcase the many faces of weather around the world. The contest is organized by the Royal Meteorological Society and AccuWeather.
This year, almost 9,000 entrees were submitted to compete for the prize. The stunning photo that earned Giulio Monton the title Weather Photographer of the Year is called Morning Fog, and it depicts a foggy morning in the town of Airuno in Italy. “Under the mist passes the river Adda,” said Montot in a statement. “In the autumn months, on some days,” he continues, “it is possible to see this show with the first lights of sunrise. After 20 minutes, everything is over. This award repays me for the cold hours endured, waiting for the perfect light for that photo.”
