How to Remove Blood Stains From Clothing

Whether you've just been attacked by a grumpy cat or have cut yourself while shaving, it's very important to get blood stains out of your clothes as quickly as possible, since the longer you leave them in, the harder they will be to remove. Thankfully, there are plenty of household items that you can use to help purge your clothes of blood stains, and here are 8 of the most effective ones:

1. Vinegar

If a blood stain has not yet set in, you should be able to get rid of it by simply pouring full-strength white vinegar onto it. Allow the vinegar to soak into the fabric for five to ten minutes, before blotting thoroughly with a towel or cloth. Repeat if necessary, before washing immediately.
2. Hydrogen Peroxide

If a blood stain is still fresh, you can rid yourself of it using some 3% hydrogen peroxide. All you need to do is to apply some directly onto the blood stain, before rinsing it with some fresh water and laundering it as usual.
3. Ammonia

Ammonia is not only able to get rid of tough blood stains but also works wonders on sweat and urine stains as well. For best results, mix a half-strength solution of ammonia and water and dab it onto the affected area before laundering.
4. Cola

5. Cold Salt Water

To use talcum powder to get rid of blood stains, you will need to add some water to it first in order to make a paste. Then, apply it to the affected area and wait for it to dry. Afterward, you will be able to simply brush away the blood stains with ease.
7. WD-40
Blood Stain Removal
WD-40 is perfect for pre-treating not only blood stains but also lipstick, ink, grease, and dirt. Simply spray some WD-40 directly onto the stain, allow it to be absorbed for a few minutes, and then launder the garment as usual. The earlier this technique is applied, the better the results will be.
8. Cornstarch
Blood Stain Removal
Start by making a paste out of some cornstarch and water, and then rub the mixture onto the affected area thoroughly. Then, leave it to dry in a sunny place, and brush off the remaining residue afterward. You can repeat this process as many times as required for better results each time.
