The riddles you are about to face are thousands of years old. We know that because they are taken from an ancient viking tale.
It is called the Hervarar Saga. Its hero, Gestumblindi, is about to be executed by the viking king Heidrek. To save himself, he makes a plea to the norse god Odin, who arrives, pretends to be Gestumblindi and goes in his stead to meet the king. Upon their meeting, he challenges king Heidrek to a contest of wisdom and cunning by posing him with riddles. King Heidrek answered them all correctly.
