You’ve Never Seen Hair Accessories As Beautiful As These!

In Japan, wearing hair ornaments like combs, hairpins, and artificial flowers has a long history and deep symbolism. Known as kanzashi, these traditional Japanese hair ornaments have been worn for thousands of years. At their peak of popularity, kanzashi were incredibly elaborate works of art that featured seasonal flowers, which the wearer would replace with the changing of the seasons.

Today, the talented designer from Tokyo known as Sakae (previously here) continues this ancient Japanese tradition. Sakae uses resin and wire to shape delicate translucent flowers that look better than the real thing. And the best part is, these beautiful lotuses, hydrangeas, and irises will never wither! Admire 13 examples of Sakae’s artworks below, and go to the artist’s Website, Flickr page, and Facebook to see more of her elaborate hairpins.
