How to Improve Your Trip to the Beach

When we think of summer, we often think of hot sand, the sea, and a nice tan. However, unpleasant things can happen on a trip to the beach, and they can really end up spoiling your holiday. Below are 8 fantastic tricks that’ll ensure that your beach vacation is pleasant, safe, and fun.

1. How to Stop Sand Sticking to Your Feet
8 Wonderful Beach Hacks

Because of all the sand that gets stuck to your feet, it can be a right pain getting your shoes back on after a day at the beach. To prevent this, simply use children’s talcum powder.

What to do: Sprinkle some talcum powder into a piece of cloth, and wrap it up tightly. When you’re ready to leave the beach, rub the talcum powder onto your feet. The talc will absorb the moisture, meaning that even the smallest grains of sand will brush off easily. Your feet and legs will be left clean and smooth.

2. How to Avoid Losing Your Car Keys

To avoid running the risk of losing your car keys on the beach, you can hide them behind the wheel of your car.

What to do: Take a twig, plant stem, or a blade of grass, and tie it to your key’s key ring. Fix it to the hubcap, and let it hang down on the inner side.

3. How to Avoid Getting a Headache

The change in pressure which occurs when you dive underwater can give you a headache. Thankfully, there’s an easy way to prevent.

What to do: Before going underwater, pinch your nose, close your mouth, and create some pressure in your head for 5-10 seconds. Then breathe in deeply, and repeat two more times. Your body will adapt to the new pressure, and you won’t get a headache.

4. Protecting Your Valuables

When you’re on the beach, there’s often nowhere to keep your valuables, and it’s not a good idea to leave them in the open without anyone watching over them.

What to do: Place your valuable items inside a child’s diaper, or wrap them up inside some underwear. Such items are unattractive to thieves. They won’t bother looking in them, and your valuables should be safe.

5. Keeping Your Phone Dry

Nowadays, phones are so fragile that if it were to accidentally get wet at the beach, it’s highly unlikely that it will come out unscathed.

What to do: To protect your phone from water, place it in a ziplock bag. Then, using a straw, remove all the air from the bag. You’ll now have a completely waterproof cover. Another great way to protect your phone is to wrap it in a few layers of plastic wrap.

Aloe vera juice heals wounds, reduces swelling, and retains moisture. Furthermore, it’s a great way to cope with sunburn as well.

What to do: Buy some aloe vera gel, and freeze it in an ice cube tray. Then, whenever you get sunburnt, you can wipe the area with an aloe vera ice cube. This will help to restore your skin and reduce the pain.

7. If Your Ears Become Blocked

If you’ve managed to get all the water out of your ears, but they’re still blocked, you’ll need to restore the natural pressure in your inner ear. This is easy to do.

What to do: Take a balloon, pinch your nose, and begin to blow the balloon up. At some point during this process, you’ll hear a small pop, which indicates that the pressure in your ears is back to normal.

8. Cool Flip-Flops

There’s nothing worse than slipping on your sandals after a long, hot day at the beach, only for them to burn the soles of your feet. Thankfully, there’s an easy solution.

What to do: When you’re not wearing your flip-flops, simply turn them over so that the insole is out of the sun.
