This might be the best idea for a family activity I have seen in a long time. It's called a Surprise Ball and it's as fun to make as it is to open it later and reveal what's inside. A surprise ball is all about the unraveling of layer after layer, and finding more and more surprising little prizes. It's fun to make, it looks wonderful, and I guaranty it's something kids will love. |

Here is a list of the things you will need to make you own surprise ball:
•Fine crepe paper in 10 colors |

Once you have all the supplies you need it's time to start cutting the fine crepe paper. Cut strips about an inch wide (2.5 cm) lengthwise, 3 strips per color should be enough. Take the largest or best gift from the 10 and start wrapping it in a criss cross pattern, to cover as much surface area as possible. |

When the first strip is at its end continue warping with 2 more strips of the same color. When the 3rd strip is done, use a small amount of glue the seal the ending. |

Take another item, either small or large, and continue wrapping around the two with a different colored paper. |
![]() |
As you add more and more items start thinking about properly placing items in order to form the shape of a ball in the end. |

Continue adding items and wrapping, remember to changed color after each new item is added. |

As the ball gets larger and rounder use your smaller and flatter items. |

Last wrap! |

When you are done wrapping you can decorate the ball with thinner strips of the crepe paper and with the dresden trim. |

And there you have it! You now have a beautiful gift to stuff stockings, pass around at dinner parties or use at children sleepovers. Enjoy! |
