Home-Made, Rich Chocolate Tart

This tart recipe is the one you save up for special occasions. Although we're all for calling life a special occasion and enjoying it whenever you'd like, do keep in mind that this one takes up to 4 hours to make.

Ingredients for tart base:
Unsalted butter - 1 stick (room temp.)
Powdered sugar - 1/4 cup
Eggs - 1
All-Purpose flour - 1 1/4 cups
Ground almonds - 1/2 cup
Salt - a pinch
Ingredients for tart filling:
Whipped cream - 2/3 cup
Milk - 1/3 cup
Dark chocolate - 7 oz. (chopped)
Sugar - 2 tbsp.
Salt - a pinch
Vanilla Extract - 1 tsp.
Eggs - 2
Berries - of your choosing
Pistachios - a handful chops (optional)
Method of preparing the tart base:
  1. Mix the butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add the egg.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, ground almonds and salt. Combine into the mixer bowl.
  3. Wrap the dough in shrinkwrap and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  4. Once chilled, roll into a 12-inch circle. Lay flat in a 9-inch pie dish. Cut away the excess and chill for another 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F. Prick with a fork and bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Remove from oven, lower heat to 325°F.
Method of preparing the tart filling:
  1. Simmer the whipped cream and the milk but do not boil. Remove from heat and add the chocolate.
  2. Once the chocolate fully melts, add the sugar. Stir in the salt, vanilla and eggs.
  3. Bake for 20 minutes. Let cool and chill for 2 hours.
  4. Top with berries and pistachios and serve.
