The 2023 International Pet Photographer of the Year competition drew submissions from pet photographers in 32 countries, featuring their finest shots of dogs, cats, horses, and various other animals. This prestigious event, hosted by Unleashed Education, unveiled its winners at Shutterhound, the inaugural global conference dedicated to dog photography.

Sanna Sander, a Swedish photographer, was awarded the prestigious title of International Pet Photographer of the Year in recognition of her exceptional portfolio of images. Besides Sander winning the overall competition, the top photographers were recognized in five different categories: Portrait, Action, Pets and People, Documentary, and Creative. The extensive array of nearly 2,300 submitted images beautifully showcases the unique personalities of our pets. While dogs, cats, and horses were the predominant subjects, a delightful assortment of other animals, including pigs, chickens, lizards, rabbits, cows, hamsters, and snakes, also made appearances.
