We all know famous artists like Picasso, Michelangelo, and Rembrandt. It is likely that you haven’t heard the name of Edgar Degas before. However, Degas was considered one of the founders of impressionist art, as well as a self-proclaimed realist whose art is inspired by real-life subject matters and concepts. His works incited a wide variety of emotions in public audiences, from admiration to rage, which true artistry often tends to do. He was known for using bold strokes and creating pieces focused on dancers, racehorses and a variety of portraits. He created over 600 different works of art, including paintings and sculptures between 1858 and 1912, that spurred a whole new era in art.
