11 Photos to Honor the Memory of the Late Prince Philip

On Friday, April 9, 2021, the British Royal Family and the entire United Kingdom woke up to the sad news that Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II’s husband, passed away in his sleep. The Duke of Edinburgh was 99 years old at the time of his passing. According to the BBC, he was the longest-serving royal consort in British history.

Many leaders, including prime minister Boris Johnson, Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon, and Justin Welby, The Archbishop of Canterbury, sent their condolences and shared kind words about Prince Philip. The Prime Minister said that the Duke of Edinburgh inspired the lives of countless young people. Boris Johnson also pointed out that the late Duke of Edinburgh was one of the last surviving veterans of the Second World War. “Prince Philip earned the affection of generations here in the United Kingdom, across the Commonwealth, and around the world,” said Johnson.

To honor the memory of Prince Philip, we have collected 12 photos that paint a map of his life and legacy.
