When they were initially introduced to the world, drones were seen as exotic devices that would be of use only to governmental organizations. However, over the years, drones (or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Miniature Pilotless Aircrafts, and Flying Mini Robots) have become an excellent tool for photographers. They allow them a chance to explore aerial photography like never before and explore areas of the world that wouldn't have been thought possible previously.
This is why the Drone Photo Awards are so great. They recognize and award the best shutterbugs who have used drones to show us the aerial wonders of our world in a way we've never seen before. The photographers competed in 9 different photo categories – Urban, Wildlife, Sport, People, Nature, Abstract, Life Under COVID-19, Wedding, and Series – along with two video categories. Here, we have selected some of the best images from the competition - from a whale pushing a tourist boat to a salmon school shaped like a heart. These glorious drone photos show just why our world is so unique and remarkable.
