In 1989, the Exxon Valdez oil tanker ran aground off the coast of Prince William Sound, Alaska. Until the Deepwater Horizon disaster, which occurred in 2010, it was the largest oil spill in US history. It's still considered to be one of the worst environmental disasters in world history, because wildlife in the area was severely effected. The US Oil Pollution Act of 1990 was passed following the spill.

52-year-old Khalid Masood was born in Kent in southern England. The Islamic State has praised the attacker’s act, whereas people that knew him have said he was just a “normal family man”.
