The Australian artist has a flair for the microscopic, and in this project, he captures urban life in a fascinatingly small-scale model. It is modeled after a real apartment block in Kowloon City, Hong Kong.
To create this phenomenal work of art, Joshua uses finely carved cardboard, medium-density fiberboard, and paint.
With these tools and his technique, he manages to emulate every minute aspect of a rough, big city landscape.
The phenomenal piece of art features rust, graffiti, tiny advertisements, while other touches are perfectly placed and look realistic.
With so much detail, it seems that Joshua has achieved his goal, whereby he wants viewers to be fooled, making them believe that it is the real thing.
Aside from this project, Smith has also produced models of more modest buildings, garbage dumpsters, and shops - all falling under the same theme of urban darkness.
