Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn was a painter, printer and drafter from the Netherlands who played a huge role in the history of Dutch art and the art world in general, shaping art all over the world. He is still to this day considered to be one of the greatest visual artists, whose styles were varied and substantial, covering everything from portraits, landscapes and animal studies to historical, biblical and mythological themes. Between 1620 and 1669, Rembrandt created over 600 paintings, 2000 drawings, and nearly 400 etchings. The Night Watch, created in 1642, even today, remains one of his most famous paintings.
