Turkish Style Ground Beef Pizza

This Mediterranean take on the Italian pizza is a colorful and flavorful combination of seasoned ground beef and egg. It is the perfect hearty meal for any season, but we think you'd most enjoy it in the winter. We suggest our recipe for pizza dough instead of the store-bought option.

Turkish Style Ground Beef Pizza
Ingredients for pizza:
Onions - 1/2 an onion (chopped)
Olive oil - as needed
Ground beef - 1 lbs
Garlic - 1 clove (minced)
Sun-dried tomatoes - 1/4 cup
Pickled cherry peppers - 2 (pureed)
Cumin - 1/2 tsp.
Pizza dough - as needed
Eggs - 4 (optional)
Parsley leaves - 2 tbsp.
Salt and Pepper - as needed
Method of preparing the pizza:
  1. In a skillet, fry an onion with a tablespoon of olive oil on medium heat for 4 minutes, until it softens. Add the meat and garlic, and season with salt and pepper. Turn the heat up and start breaking the meat into smaller bits until it browns.
  2. Stir in the dried tomatoes, pepper puree, and cumin. Continue stirring for a minute. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C)
  3. Flatten the dough on a floured surface into 4 smaller circles. Place the 4 circles on a baking sheet and bake in the bottom part of the oven for 2 minutes.
  4. Remove the dough from the oven, and evenly spread the meat to cover most of each circle. Brush olive oil around the edges.
  5. Crack an egg in the center of each circle, and then bake on the upper shelf of the oven for 6 minutes, until the dough is golden, and the egg solidifies and turns white.
  6. Remove the pizza from the oven, sprinkle the parsley, and serve hot.
