Unlike northern Japan, Tokyo doesn’t see much snow during winter. So, when the citizens of the Japanese capital awoke one November morning recently to a city covered in pure, brilliant snow, they were so excited. The last time such an early event occurred it was 1962, when the Beatles first started making hits and John F. Kennedy was in the White House. Yet, being Japanese, they always seem to restrain themselves, and go about their business as usual. The people here blend naturally into the wonderful scenery, and it's just so special to see.
Here are 19 of the most magical images of a snowy Tokyo. Enjoy!

Shelter from the storm
Heavenly white manna
Autumn meets winter on one special day
Remember when this was you?
Wish you were here?
Sharing snow stories
It's as if Christmas came early this year
One more color added to dazzling autumn
A worthwhile pilgrimage
A perfect scene
Ride carefully, sir.
The transport goes on, undelayed
Waiting for someone
It's cold, but I love it
On the happiest day of their lives
Monet would have been proud of this
Business as usual
