Exceptional paper artist Bovey Lee uses large thin sheets of Chinese rice paper, in which she meticulously cuts intricate scenes of plants, roads, people and architecture. Bovey Lee creates all her works on rice paper - a practice that taps into her Chinese roots.

Over the years, she has created works that depict a range of subjects, from Chinese vases to women performing domestic work.

Her art reflects both her work and family experience.

Most of her work is populated with delicate flowers, birds, the sun, moon and trees, alongside images drawn from the urban environment, such as towering skyscrapers, geometric power lines and expansive highways.

She uses juxtaposing imagery to draw attention to the volatile and at times unstable relationship we have with our environment, while simultaneously recognizing our ongoing ability to coexist with one another.

Once complete, the near weightless artworks are mounted against silk before being hung on gallery walls.

Her intricate work is featured in galleries all over the world, including the Grotto Fine Art in Hong Kong, the Rena Bransten Gallery in San Francisco and the Fost Gallery in Singapore, amongst others.

Her art has been featured in dozens of books including the New Encyclopedia of Origami and Papercraft Techniques (Quarto, London).
