Artist Molds Dried Flowers Into Exquisite Vases

We’ve all seen too many vases filled with flowers to count, but have you ever met a vase that doubles as a bouquet? Such one-of-a-kind vases do exist, and they’re made by artist Shannon Clegg from the UK. These whimsical creations are part of an ongoing series of sculptures titled Bouquet.

Clegg uses live blooms foraged from nature to create each floral vase. She dries and presses the blooms, arranging them in a way that they become a vase. The artist utilizes a special hand-mold process that she developed after studying flower preservation at The Herbarium of The Kew Royal Botanic Garden. Each vase takes more than a month to create, but it will last a lot longer than any traditional bouquet too – from 2 weeks to 5 years, depending on plant species and the environment.
