Minutes or even hours seemingly disappearing can be distressing for some individuals, but if you’re a free spirit, time disappearing is just indicative of how engrossed you are in whatever you’re doing – it’s getting lost in the moment.
2. Daydreaming
Many people tend to think of daydreaming as a waste of time, but it’s actually a rather productive activity for free spirits. They’re often planning their next adventure, considering the philosophical implications of a great book they just read or planning how to achieve their long-term goals.

Free spirits experience a different kind of claustrophobia to the norm – it’s more to do with spending too much time in one place, or in the company of the same people as opposed to stepping into an elevator.
4. Long-term commitments aren’t the best
In spite of the possibility of a free spirit having long-term relationships, lengthy stints in jobs or even apartments that they live in for years on end, a lot of the time it’s just a coincidence that things pan out that way. Even a year-long cellphone contract can give a free spirit anxiety.

A change of scenery is always well worth the time for a free spirit. They’ll often take the long way home just to invigorate themselves with a beautiful sight. Monotony and routine simply aren’t in their vocabularies.
6. Work-life balance is a must
Free spirits aren’t ones to voluntarily put in 12-hour days at the office. Regardless of how much they value and enjoy their jobs, they’re constantly reminding themselves of how they’re working to live, and not the other way round.

Material possessions are always nice to have, however free spirits will always value memories and experiences over them. Memories of an amazing trip, a great meal with friends, or just a movie night with their nearest and dearest means way more to them than a shiny new car could.
8. “Me time” over partying (although you like that too)
Many assume that free spirits are all about living it up in the company of others, but true free spirits know that there’s nothing better than being in one’s own company. Despite being primarily extroverted in nature, free spirits need solo time to get lost in their thoughts and plan their next adventure.

Some people dedicate their lives to learning a single language, book or philosophy, but free spirits tend to want to learn everything about everything! They get a kick out of the fact that there’s so much to learn and are energized by jumping from one field of study to another.
10. Not a loner, but not a people-person
Although others love to be around them, free spirits don’t usually like being asked if they’re a people-person. They don’t do too well with labels, nor do they see their personality as something that can easily be categorized. They relish the opportunity to meet new people and form new relationships, but they also value their alone time.
