1. Kornati National Park

The entire archipelago has more than 140 large and small islands, and if you travel there in a small group, you can even anchor and explore them. The park has several beaches and other secluded islands and is considered to be the hidden gem of Croatia. Evergreen forests fill the hills surrounded by clear blue waters, and only narrow strips of stone or white sand separate these natural wonders. The landscapes of this park were glorified in writing as early as the 6th century BC, and they have changed very little over time.

3. Biokovo Nature Park

This rocky park is full of winding paths that pass through rough terrain, so this is the most popular park for nature walks among Croatians. From the mountain peaks, 1,500 meters above sea level, you can see the landscape facing the Adriatic Sea, and there are a lot of caves to explore as well. The park also has 1,500 different plant species, and during flowering months it is a natural treasure that awaits travelers.

5. Paklenica National Park

This park crosses two vast shopping malls, one water canal and plenty of plants, and in fact has several different ecosystems that can be explored; the cliffs have trees growing down them which provide shade for most of the day, at the bottom of the canyons, small streams pass through rocky terrain, at the top of the mountain range, there is an amazing and wild landscape, and in each of these areas there is a different variety of animals, some of which include endangered birds. 6. Risnjak National Park

Despite the amazing nature of Risnjak National Park, it hardly sees visitors. This means that those who choose to visit can definitely enjoy an isolated and quiet trip, with pleasant and comfortable weather throughout the year. The reason why this amazing place hardly receives visitors is that its best to do so with a tour guide, as there are bears, wolves and wild boars roaming its land, although only in a few cases have visitors encountered them.

7. Brijuni Islands National Park

The Greeks, Austrians, and Venetians all had ownership of this park’s islands at one point or another, and therefore it can be said that this park has the most diverse history in all of Croatia. Brijuni Park is full of historical sights, some of which date back to the 14th century BC, and include Roman ruins, Crusader churches and even footprints that probably belong to dinosaurs.

8. Sjeverni Velebit National Park

Large boulders rise from the ground of this park and between them are tiny forests, which makes for a unique and charming view. The mountains here are the largest mountain range in Croatia, surrounded by ruins of old huts and houses, which have succumbed to the harsh winds that occur in the area from time to time. These houses, along with the newer buildings built in the park, make for a picturesque landscape that can be stared at for hours.

9. Krka National Park

This park surrounds the Krka River, with its banks and waterfalls providing an amazing sight that must be seen at least once in a lifetime. Krka Park is home to 850 different species of plants, but what you really want to see is the Skradinski Buk waterfall and the pool beneath it, in which you can also swim. Another wonderful place to visit is the island of Visovac, which really resembles Lake Bled in Slovenia - with a single abbey on its small island.

You can’t talk about Croatia’s natural nature parks without mentioning the most beautiful among them, which looks like an amazingly picturesque postcard. Every year over one million tourists visit the park, and its beauty justifies these numbers. It has paved wooden walkways that pass over amazing turquoise pools, and even while standing inside the park it is hard to believe that it exists!
