El sedentarismo es peligroso y más de lo que parece. Las personas que llevan una vida sedentaria tienen más riesgo de enfermar y contraer enfermedades. La vida sedentaria influye tanto como lo hace la mala alimentación, el tabaco o el consumo de alcohol.
Las personas que después de trabajar se tumban en el sofá deberían corregir esta mala costumbre que dicho sea de paso no es tan difícil. Solo basta con realizar una hora y media de actividad física (no deporte) a la semana, en tres días.
Te damos una cuantas razones que te harán levantarte del sofá y emprender una actividad:
1- El sedentarismo es la segunda causa de muerte en el mundo después del tabaquismo.
2- La actividad física reduce la depresión. La actividad física produce endorfinas (la hormona de la felicidad) mientras que la falta de actividad influye negativamente en el estado de ánimo.
3- El ejercicio reduce también los efectos de la menopausia ya que las mujeres que practican algún tipo de ejercicio fortalecen los huesos y llegan a ese momento hormonal con mejor calidad de huesos.
4- La personas que no practican ningún tipo de actividad lo tienen más difícil a la hora de dejar el tabaco. El ejercicio reduce de forma notable el deseo de fumar.
5- El sobrepeso no está siempre relacionado con el senderismo. Los delgados también sufren las consecuencias del sedentarismo.
6- Algunos tipo de cánceres también se asocian con el sedentarismo, según el Fondo Mundial para la Investigación del Cáncer. En particular el de colon porque la falta de ejercicio hace que disminuyan en nuestro cuerpo los niveles de ciertas hormonas y que los alimentos permanezcan más tiempo en el intestino
7- La inactividad es contagiosa, de manera que cuanto menos actividad hacemos menos ganas tenemos de hacer. Si no se practica ningún tipo de actividad, se entra en un círculo vicioso del que cada vez es más complicado salir.
8- Las personas que llevan una vida activa tienen menos problemas para conciliar el sueño. Una buena práctica para conciliar el sueño es hacer yoga. El resto de actividades físicas también son beneficiosas pero siempre que se practiquen 3 horas antes de ir a dormir.
9- En cuanto al trabajo los sedentarios son menos productivos. Aquellos que realizan algo de deporte, tienden a ser más productivos y felices en el trabajo.
10-La actividad física mejora las relaciones sexuales. Según un estudio publicado en European Journal of Applied Physiology, los hombres que llevan una vida inactiva tienen espermatozoides más lentos o más escasos
11- El ejercicio físico es también beneficioso para el parto. Según el Colegio Americano de Obstetras y Ginecólogos (CAOG), las mujeres embarazadas deben realizar una actividad moderada durante todos los días y de esa manera reducir el riesgo de tener bebés con 4 kilos de peso.
12- En líneas generales el ejercicio genera beneficios para toda la sociedad: mejora el rendimiento escolar y productividad la laboral.
