Digital Art Project Breathes New Life Into Renaissance Art

Although classical art is definitely beautiful and striking, it can sometimes feel a bit detached from modern daily life. Well, Ukrainian artist Alexey Kondakov is here to prove us wrong. ‘The Daily Life of Gods’ is a digital art project, in which the artist mixes figures from dramatic Renaissance artworks with modern environments and surroundings. The photo manipulations are impressive to see.

Kondakov began the project in 2015 when he used some photographs that he took of Kyiv, where he resides, and used them as background while experimenting with photoshop. In the following years, the project grew substantially and gained many fans.

"This project is kind of a 'surrealistic documentary photography' of day-to-day stories, situations, and places all around the world (at least places I've been), inspired by the simple love to stare at everything that surrounds me. A new life of the old paintings, re-thinking the situations by changing the background of the characters into a modern environment," the artist said.
