Take an Incredible Tour of Our Colossal Milky Galaxy

100,000 stars is an interactive website powered by Chrome, that allows you to explore the wonders of our galaxy from your desktop or phone. You can zoom in and see our own sun, or move out to the far reaches of the Milky Way where blue stars burn brightly, and it couldn't be easier to use.

Instructions: There are two ways you can enjoy this fantastic resource:

1. Take an automated tour - Use this option to be taken on a guided tour of the milky way. The tour starts at our very own sun and gradually takes you to the outer reaches of the galaxy, while teaching you some fascinating facts along the way. To take the tour:

Click on the image below.
When the website loads, you will see the words 'Take a Tour' on the top left hand corner of the screen.
Click on the words or the 'play' symbol above them to begin your fascinating tour. Just keep looking at the screen!

2. Explore the Milky Way using your mouse - Use this option to explore the stars of our galaxy as you wish. To do so:

Click on the image below.
When the website loads, you will be greeted by a scrolling image of our galaxy.
Use the scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom in and out of the image. Scroll forwards to zoom in, and towards you to zoom out.
If you don't have a scroll wheel, use the slider on the right hand side of the screen to navigate the galaxy. Left click and hold on the bar in the middle of the slider to move around. You can also use the site from a smart phone, using the slider or your fingers to scroll in and out.
