Artful Arrangements - 12 Assemblages by Kristen Meyer

Assemblage is a piece of art produced by combining everyday objects into various arrangements. The interesting part about these compositions is that, on its own, each object that makes up the art piece, such as eggshells or pieces of broken mirrors, is not considered to be art. But when the artist combines these everyday objects into an assemblage, the piece acquires an aesthetic meaning.

Kristen Meyer’s works are an extremely curious and forward-thinking type of assemblage. The American artist is from New Haven, Connecticut, and her works are somewhere on the border of art and meticulous organization. Meyer uses flowers and common everyday objects, and turns them into geometric arrangements that look just like abstract paintings.
“I generally work with what I can find around the house, inside or out. It begins as a scavenger hunt of sorts, and then a challenge as I begin to build,” said the artist in a statement to This Is Colossal.
