In the event of you or a loved one having a heart attack, the first thing you’d do is call for an ambulance, but what if things go far south in the minutes between you placing your call and the emergency vehicle arriving? While this is a scary prospect for anyone, there’s one ingredient you’re likely to have in your home that can prevent a bad situation from getting worse.
To stop a heart attack or keep it from worsening, the person suffering it should be given cayenne pepper. It was herbalist John Christopher who made this incredible discovery. It was a long process of trial and error before he found an herbal formula that is effective – he tried about 50 different ones before settling on cayenne pepper.

He found that it can stop a heart attack in under a minute. Even if you find yourself located within the vicinity of a hospital, those minutes waiting for the ambulance to arrive could mean the difference between life and death, so it’s perhaps a good idea to always have this ingredient on hand in your home.
Cayenne pepper’s effectiveness comes from its Scoville unit content. Scoville units are the measurement used to determine how hot a particular kind of food is. Cayenne peppers contain at least 90,000 Scoville units.
The pepper should be administered to someone having a heart attack in powdered form. Stir a teaspoon of it into a glass of water and make them drink it. Should the person suffering the heart attack fall unconscious, a few drops of cayenne pepper placed underneath their tongue should suffice to stop the attack.

So how does it actually work? Cayenne pepper rapidly increases a person’s heart rate, ensuring that their blood is carried to their extremities. It also helps balance their circulation, which can buy them the precious minutes they may need to stay alive until help arrives.
This ingredient is not uncommon – in fact, you’ll be able to pick it up at your local supermarket for less than $5. It’s always a good idea to have some handy, because it’s impossible to say when an emergency will arise. Another idea is to keep instructions on how to administer in the event that the worst happens.
