Several dermatologists have reported in recent times that moderate wine consumption may have anti-inflammatory effects on the body. This potential reduction in inflammation extends to skin conditions like rosacea and chronic dermatitis. The presence of antioxidants such as flavonoids, resveratrol, and tannins in wine helps neutralize free radicals that harm skin cells and accelerate the aging process. Dermatologists stress the importance of moderation, as excessive alcohol intake could actually aggravate inflammation.

Per a study published in July 2023 by the American Society of Nutrition, drinking two glasses of de-alcoholized muscadine wine each day can provide many of the same skin-beautifying benefits as alcohol. The researchers examined skin conditions before and after the trial, including markers of inflammation and oxidative stress, and determined that the patient's skin showed symptoms of decreased inflammation at the end of the six-week study period.

The study's findings also revealed that subjects who consumed two glasses of de-alcoholized red wine per evening for six consecutive weeks encountered a reduction in water depletion from the skin's outermost layer. This phenomenon correlated with a reduction in visible indications of aging, as the sustenance of optimal skin hydration establishes a crucial defense mechanism, shielding the dermal strata from potential damage, as elucidated by the study's authors.

Alcoholic wines and de-alcoholized wines differ in this aspect. De-alcoholized wines promote skin hydration, whereas alcoholic beverages tend to cause dehydration in the body, including the skin. This could potentially lead to dryness, less vibrant pigmentation, the formation of wrinkles, and sagging.

Consuming modest quantities of wine or non-alcoholic wine can also contribute to enhancing your blood circulation.
