Italian-Style Herb Croutons

This Italian-style crouton recipe is the perfect way to upgrade dishes like salads or soups, as these baked croutons contain garlic, parmesan, and herbs that add plenty of flavor and aroma to any dish. The short cooking time is a significant bonus too!

Ingredients for Italian-Style Herb Croutons:
Garlic - 2 cloves (sliced lengthwise)
Oregano - 1 tsp.
Dried basil - 1 tsp.
Dried thyme - 1 tsp.
Salt - 1/2 tsp.
Ground black pepper - 1/2 tsp.
Olive oil - 1/2 tbsp.
Loaf of bread - 1 (about 7 cups) (cut into cubes)
Method of preparing the Italian-Style Herb Croutons:
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Place a small pot over a small flame and stir the garlic, oregano, basil, thyme, salt, pepper, and olive oil together for about 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the pot from the fire and strain the garlic pieces.
  4. Place the bread cubes in a large bowl and pour the oil mixture over them, mixing the cubes to coat them well.
  5. Lay the bread cubes on the baking pan, place them on the oven’s middle shelf, and bake for 8 minutes.
  6. Remove the pan from the oven, sprinkle the Parmesan cheese, and place it back into the oven for another 7 minutes or until the bread cubes turn golden.
  7. Remove the pan from the oven and let the bread cubes cool before serving.
Chef's Tip:
These croutons can be kept for up to a week.
