Andromeda: Our Beautiful and Giant Neighboring Galaxy

On January 5th, 2015, NASA aimed the Hubble Space Telescope at the Andromeda Galaxy and took the biggest picture ever taken of it. The image size was 1.5 billion pixels, and even though it only shows one small part of Andromeda, astronomers counted over 100 million stars in that section alone.

If you wanted to see the whole picture at once, you would need a total of 600 high-definition screens. To view this video at its best, increase the resolution up to 4K and toggle full screen. If the video lags, let it load for a minute or two.
