30-Minute Chicken Marsala

Chicken marsala is a classic Italian-American dish that goes together in just 30 minutes and works with any side dish you enjoy. The golden-brown chicken breasts are coated in a rich and creamy mushroom and wine sauce. In our eyes, it's tough to think of a better simple weekday dinner!

30-Minute Chicken Marsala
Ingredients for 30-Minute Chicken Marsala:
Chicken breast - 2 large
Garlic powder - 1/4 tsp.
Salt and Pepper - to taste
All-Purpose flour - for dredging the chicken
Unsalted butter - 3 tbsp. (divided)
Olive oil - 1 tbsp.
Marsala wine - 3/4 cup
Garlic - 1 clove (minced)
Heavy cream - 1/2 cup
Cremini mushrooms - 7 ozץ (thinly sliced)
Method of preparing the 30-Minute Chicken Marsala:
  1. On a work surface, trim off the fat of the chicken breasts and slice the chicken breasts in half lengthwise.
  2. Blot the chicken with paper towels, then season the chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Pour some flour into a plate, then coat each chicken slice in the flour.
  4. In a large frying pan, heat 1 tbsp of butter and all of the olive oil on medium-high. When the pan is hot but not smoking, sear the chicken until golden on both sides - about 5 minutes. Transfer the seared chicken to a plate and set it aside.
  5. To the same frying pan, add the remaining butter. When it melts, spread out the mushrooms throughout the bottom of the frying pan. Sauté, stirring from time to time, for 5 minutes or until reduced and browned.
  6. Add the minced garlic and marsala wine and cook for a couple of minutes.
  7. Stirring continuously, drizzle in the heavy cream. Return the chicken to the frying pan and cook for 5 more minutes. When ready, the chicken will be cooked through and the sauce will thicken up.
  8. Taste and season with more salt and pepper. Serve warm topped with fresh thyme with your side dish of choice.
