Peanut Butter Bars

We all love desserts. It doesn’t matter if you’ve had an appetizer and main course and are on the verge of bursting, everybody knows desserts are processed in a separate stomach. The problem is, desserts can be quite the hassle to make. Cakes and pies are a precise science that require an oven and tools and can go horribly wrong if you don’t follow the recipe to the letter, while a good ice cream requires kitchen appliances most of us don’t have lying around.

Homemade peanut butter snack bars are incredibly simple to make and will delight both children and adults. They are also quite versatile, as you can make them with nuts, granola, cornflakes or a mix of all of the above.

Prep Time 30 minutes
Difficulty Level: Low
Peanut Butter Bars
Ingredients:
Granola - 6 cups (alternative: cornflakes/assorted unsalted nuts)
White sugar - 3/4 cup
Corn syrup - 1 cup (light)
Peanut Butter - 1 cup
Method of Preparation:
  1. Place the granola in a large bowl. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, mix the sugar and syrup and stir. As the mixture heats up, stir more vigorously.
  3. Around the 10 minute mark, the edges will begin to boil. As soon as that happens, remove the pan from the stove, add the peanut butter and stir until smooth.
  4. Pour the mixture over the granola and stir until coated. Pour the mixture into the baking sheet. Let the bars set for about 20 minutes before cutting up.
