These Rare Photos of the Titanic Reveal Untold Stories

The RMS Titanic stands as an eternal symbol of human triumph and tragedy. Immortalized through literature, film, and countless accounts, the sinking of this majestic vessel continues to captivate the hearts and minds of people worldwide. The opulent ocean liner, which cost $7.5 million (equivalent to over $200 million today), symbolized magnificence and served as a source of optimism for many. Its construction began on March 3, 1909, and upon completion, it stood as the largest vessel of its type, stretching about three football fields long and towering as tall as a 17-story building.

On April 10, 1912, the Titanic set sail on its maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York City. But a few days into the trip, the ship hit an iceberg and sank within hours. The tragedy claimed the lives of around 1,500 people, and to this day, the sunken remains lie undisturbed in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean.
