A noted professor, Dr. Albert Mehrabian, was interested in checking how much of our communication with one another is made by non-verbal cues. He found that 7% of any message is conveyed through words, 38% of the message is conveyed by using certain vocal cues that aren't words, and a whopping 55% of the message is conveyed through nonverbal elements (facial expressions, gestures, posture, etc).
What this means is that we all have an inherent ability to 'read' other people's reactions. How good are YOU at this? Try to guess the emotions these people are conveying - what are you picking up?
