One of the major differences between dogs and cats, is that dogs have a sense of shame. A cat may do something bad, but will just sit there and look at you with zero shame in its eyes. A dog, on the other hand, knows very well it did wrong, and it's acts of contrition can be both pitiful and adorable, as they submit to our blame. Of course, this adorable behavior usually ends up with us forgiving them after a few minutes time...
