Cute kittens and Cats ... personally, I cannot get enough of them. But what I love more than watching hilarious cat videos, is looking through a collection of insanely adorable kittens. But be careful, the cute kittens that you're about to see are bound to melt your heart! Don't say we didn't warn you...
The people have spoken, and in terms of cat breeds, the general consensus is - the fluffier the cuter! According to Ranker, an online ranking platform, the five breeds with the cutest kittens are:
1. Siberian - with 2,423 votes
2. Somali - 2,022 votes
3. Burman - 1,739 votes
4. Ragdoll - 1,527 votes
5. Norwegian Forest - 1,239 votes.
We’re here to give you the facts and only the facts. Believe it or not, several investigations have been done to answer this question, and there seem to be a few reasons why humans find kittens so adorable. Researchers believe that it’s a combination of fluffiness and tiny bodies with large heads and eyes that makes us go “aww” every time we see a kitten. Some even claim that the facial proportions in kittens trigger our parenting instincts.
Ask any cat owner, and each will be convinced that their cat is the cutest in the world. Clearly, a sprinkling of objectivity is needed to fully answer this question. And who else to ask for an objective account if not scientists?
And believe it or not, there is such a study. All About Cats conducted a survey that measured the most beautiful cat breeds using the rule of the Golden Ratio. You’ll see some familiar breeds in the top 5 list:
1. Norwegian Forest
1. Russian Blue
1. Manx
2. Ragamuffin
2. Siberian.
This cat behavior is one of the cutest and also one of the most mysterious. If you’re wondering why your cat is trying to squeeze itself into a paper bag half the size. It could be that they’re just bad at estimating their own size, but there’s also a theory that cats are naturally drawn to hide in boxes and other objects as a way to “camouflage” themselves in the environment. And the size? Well, that doesn’t really matter - “if it fits, the cat sits.”
Cuteness isn’t just about looks, it’s also about affectionate behavior. After all, nothing is more adorable than a purring kitten curling up in your lap. If that’s what matters the most to you as a cat owner, you’ll find a deeper connection with breeds that are described as more dog-like and affectionate, namely the Ragdoll, Persian, Abyssinian, Maine Coon, Burmese, and Sphynx cats.
14. Hypnotizing!
According to the internet, the cutest kitten in the world is Daisy from Japan (see pictures above). And judging by those emerald green eyes, fluffy coat, and adorable playfulness, we wouldn’t dare disagree. See more photos of Daisy on her owner’s Flickr account here - Ben Torode.
Cats of all breeds and colors are cute, but if you’re looking for the cutest, most well-behaved, and cleverest cats, you can’t go wrong with a tuxedo cat or an orange tabby. That’s the conclusion of a 2016 observation by the School of Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State University and Vancouver, BC. Published in Modern Cat magazine, the study involved 512 felines. Tuxedo cats got the number one spot in the ranking, but orange tabbies came in as close seconds.
If you’ve ever seen a newborn, you may have noticed that they are born with blue-grey eyes that can eventually change color. Kittens are very similar to human babies in this respect, as the color of their irises also forms during the first year of their lives. Breeds like the Himalayan and Siamese will retain a blue hue for life, but most will develop into a green, golden, or brown tone.
Kittens love “making biscuits,” or kneading other animals, blankets, and people. But why? This behavior is instinctive, as kittens need to knead the mother’s belly as a way to get more milk. And in many cases, cats tend to continue this practice way into their adulthood. Possibly, this brings a sense of calm and comfort to a cat. Some also say that if a cat is kneading you, it has chosen you as a mother figure.
Being right- or left-handed isn’t unique to humans. Kittens too are either right- or left-pawed. Observe your kitten at play or while grooming, and you’ll be able to determine its dominant paw too!
