Explore These Amazing Falls Without Leaving Your Home

In May 2011, Dima Moiseenko left for Venezuela to shoot the highest waterfall in the world - Angel Falls. The shoot took two days and was very complicated both technically and weather-wise. Dima shot Angel Falls itself, a few neighboring waterfalls in tepuis, and spheres over the gold mines on his way back. The video below shows the first part of the shoot - a virtual tour in Venezuela over Angel Falls' surroundings, the Dragon and Cortina Falls, as well as over the gold mines.

Instructions: Allow the virtual tour a few seconds to load. You can use your mouse (with the left button pressed) to move about. On the right, there are different scenes you can choose from. Use the up and down arrow keys to zoom in and out. Click on 'FULLSCREEN' (recommended) to view the entire panorama.

The total height of the waterfall is 979 meters and the altitude of the seemingly endless waterfall is 807 meters.  The fall altitude is so high that, before reaching the ground, tiny water drops begin to turn into a mist.

It's worth mentioning that Venezuela is a unique country. In addition to Nicolas Maduro and ridiculously cheap oil prices (an off-road vehicle's tank full of gasoline will cost approx. USD 3.30), there are tepuis.

Tepuis are unconventionally-shaped, flat-topped mountains that are famous all over the world. They're more commonly known as table top mountains (perhaps because they are flat like a table top). Just imagine - in the deep jungle there are one-kilometer-high geological formations with vertical walls and flat tops.

These geological features are the reason why water accumulates after every single downpour, then cascades down in numerous waterfalls. Angel Falls is just one of them, but with the highest altitude of all. From the same Auyantepui Mountain, there are more full-flowing waterfalls present, but their altitudes are between 200-300 meters.

At the same time there is a problem - in the hot, dry season, Angel Falls changes into a thin water stream, with the opposite happening in the wet season. With that being said, the weather is so varied at Angels Falls that even a month might not be enough to take in all its sights.
