While only hundreds of years ago, most of us would spend our days harvesting in the fields, today we spend most of the day at the office in front of the computer, on the phone, or watching television. Once, we knew the biological traits of fruits and vegetables, but today all that matters is if our local grocery store provides them or not. Here are some of the amazing ways that fruits and veggies grow that may be new to you!
Brussels sprouts grow on stalks
Pineapples grow on the ground
Cashews are the brown part at the end of this fruit
Artichokes have beautiful purple flowers
Pomegranates grow on small trees
Asparagus grow straight out of the ground
Kiwis grow on vines
Leeks also have a beautiful purple flower
Persimmons also grow on a huge tree
Cocoa beans that produce chocolate grow inside bright pods on a tree
Celery also grows in a huge green bush in the grond 
Beets are root vegetables that grow in the ground with leafy tops
Saffron is the little orange stamina in the middle of the Crocus flower
Bananas grow upside on tall plants (not trees) 
Peanuts grow as little roots on the ground
Cloves are the dried flower buds of the clove tree
Cantaloupes grow on the ground like pumpkins
Capers are the unopened buds of this beautiful flower
Cranberries grow on low, bushy plants and are harvested in water
Broccoli florets are little closed flower buds
Avocados grow on tall trees

Chickpeas come in little green pods in a low plant 
Olives grow on very old trees

Black peppercorns are actually fruit that grow on vines
Blueberries grow on spiny bushes
Lemons grow on trees like oranges 
Paprika comes from ground up and dried red peppers
Arugula does not grow in a bunch, but separately
