The E-type was first presented to the world at the Parc des Eaux Vives, Geneva, 15 March 1961. It won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race for three consecutive years beginning in 1955. This is the world's oldest active endurance race for sports cars. It is held annually in France, and the winner is the one to cover the most distance.
The Jaguar E-type's elegance is permanently acknowledged by the MoMa (Museum of Modern Art) in New York: the car is the third to join the museum's design collection as a permanent exhibit.
