Homemade Applesauce

So you bought a bunch of apples at the store, but they’re all sandy or mushy. Now what? Before you decide to reluctantly toss them, try this homemade applesauce. It doesn’t use any additives or colorants, so you know it’s better than the store-bought stuff.

Ingredients for Applesauce:
Water - 1/2 cup
Brown sugar - 1/4 cup
Lemon juice - 1 tbsp.
Salt - 1/4 tsp.
Cinnamon - to taste

You can stuff whole apples with whatever you have at home: nuts, dried fruit, brown sugar, orange zest, honey, oatmeal, Nutella, or maple syrup. Here’s a great basic recipe you can try!

Ingredients for Baked Apples:
Hot water - 1 cup
Walnuts - 1/4 cup
Brown sugar - 1/4 cup
Cinnamon - 1/2 tsp.
Nutmeg - 1/4 tsp.
Unsalted butter - 1 tbsp. (vegan alternative: margarine)
Rolled Oats - 1/4 cup
