Admire the Winners of the 2021 Bird Photographer of the Year Contest

The long-awaited winners of the 2021 Bird Photographer of the Year Contest (or BPOTY) are finally here! One of our personal favorites, this bird photography contest showcases the magnificence of birdlife while also illuminating the struggles of our avian friends out in the wild. This is the sixth time this contest is being held, and this year, a record-breaking 22,000 images were submitted to the competition from photographers all around the world.
For his meaningful photo of a Greater Roadrunner standing next to the tall border wall between Mexico and the US, the Mexican photographer Alejandro Prieto was given the honorable title of "bird photographer of the year" in 2021. “The border wall crosses deserts, mountains, and even mangroves. It is not just desert, and is in fact very biodiverse with more than 1,500 animal and plants species threatened by the wall. I have watched many different animals reach the wall before turning around and heading back,” said Alejandro Prieto about his winning image. Scroll down to view Prieto's work, as well as 14 other stunning winners of this year's BPOTY contest.
