These Items Were Almost Thrown Away, Until an Artist Gave Them New Life

Meet Slava Korolev, a USA-based artist from New Jersey who owns a studio named "Lightdents." He turns discarded vintage items, mainly woodwind instruments, into fully functioning lamps and chandeliers. Each lamp is one of a kind, and he designs the lamp according to the anatomy of the instrument.

Korolev also uses other decorative items, such as big seashells or clams. He is very particular about the items he chooses to recycle: they have to be in a dire situation, a bit damaged or neglected without purpose. He then turns them into magical but practical short lamps, with a vintage design and a touch of art-nouveau.
