1. Use a Humidifier
Something that can really irritate your sinuses is dry air. It's essential to use a humidifier to reduce the humidity in your home to below 50%. Any higher and dust mites tend to become very active, making your symptoms worse. It is best to take the humidifier into your bedroom and shut the door to ensure an optimal level of humidity.
2. Keep Yourself Hydrated
Being dehydrated will completely dry out your mucus, causing sinus issues to become aggravated. You might want to try using saltwater to flush your nasal passages in order to remove gunk by irrigating them and helping to moisten them somewhat. Using a Neti pot or a bulb syringe would be ideal for this.
3. Use Extracts and Oils
Plenty of extracts and oils can help alleviate sinus issues by calming the symptoms and reducing inflammation. Our favorite is made from five drops of oregano oil, one teaspoon of sea salt, six drops of betadine, three drops of eucalyptus oil, three drops of tea tree oil, , one teaspoon of baking soda, and five drops of olive leaf extract. Simply combine all of these ingredients and use a bulb syringe or Neti pot for irrigation.
4. Use Betadine Rinses
A betadine solution can also alleviate your sinus problems, but you should take care with the amount you use, since too much could end up causing you to experience a burning sensation. Simply take six drops of betadine and half a teaspoon of baking soda, and add them both to two cups of lukewarm distilled water. Mix it well, and use a bulb syringe or Neti pot for irrigation.
5. Use Apple Cider Vinegar Tea
Apple cider vinegar is effective for helping with a whole host of health issues such as sinus infections. Make a tea using six ounces of water, two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and some honey to enhance the taste, as well as to add a soothing sensation. We'd recommend drinking this tea 3 times a day.
6. Use Grapefruit Seed Extract
Using grapefruit seed extract helps to inhibit the proliferation of bacteria and microbes.
