The Ultimate Way to Remove Mildew Smell From Towels

If you've ever forgotten to remove your towels from the washing machine once the cycle has finished, then you're probably familiar with the gross mildew smell that will cling to them as a result. That smell is actually the smell of bacteria breeding, and it's something that is both gross to think about and especially challenging to get rid of.

Smelly Towels

Luckily, there is one really easy and effective way to deep-clean your towels and eliminate odors at the source. All you need is some baking soda and vinegar, two products that most people have lying around somewhere at home.

Baking soda and vinegar are essentially an odor-fighting dream team. By themselves, both of these products don't merely mask smells, but actually eat away at bacteria, thereby banishing odors for good. However, when combined they create a chemical reaction that is able to penetrate deep into your towels' inner fibers getting rid of the entire odor source.

What's more, this solution is also perfect for breaking up detergent and fabric softener accumulations. Such build-ups not only attract and accommodate bacteria but also make your towels very difficult to clean, which is why this method is so effective.

Here's the Ultimate Technique:

Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup of baking soda
• 1 cup of white vinegar
• Hot water

Method:

1. Place all towels into the washing machine and fill it with hot water that you have boiled manually.

2. Add a cup of vinegar and run everything through a regular wash cycle.

3. Once the cycle is complete, add more boiling water and half a cup of baking soda, before running a second cycle.

4. Dry your towels thoroughly, either on a clothesline or in the dryer.
